The wife of Rolling Stones guitarist Ron Wood has announced that she is through with the rocker after he ran off with an 18-year-old Russian waitress. The 61-year-old Wood, who has long battled alcoholism, allegedly began his affair with cocktail waitress Ekaterina Ivanova this April, just after the premiere of 'Shine a Light' – Martin Scorsese's documentary about the Stones.

"He's drinking heavily – maybe two bottles of vodka a day," Wood's wife of 23 years, Jo, told British tabloid The Sun last week. When asked if she thought the pair were having an affair, Mrs. Wood stressed, "They're not boyfriend or girlfriend – not in that way."

But there may be more to the relationship than Jo Wood is letting on. Ron's 53-year-old wife was shocked to learn of Ivanova's claims to pals: "I am not taking him – he is leaving." The spurned spouse was of the belief that Ron – an avid painter who co-owns a London art gallery with his sons – and Ekaterina were merely drinking partners who had gone on a "painting holiday" at the Woods' luxury home in Ireland. But after the pair were spotted at local pubs near County Kildare and a revealing portrait of the young barmaid, titled 'Photography Nude II,' surfaced in a Dublin gallery this week, the evidence against Ronnie – who is supposedly worth $140 million – was overwhelming. As a result, the Woods have splintered.
What better way to say "I'm sorry and please come back to me" than a bleeding heart message on YouTube? One with an acoustic guitar and footage of you and your ex kissing, of course. Or so that's what Pete Doherty must be hoping. "I miss your face, I miss the places that I once knew/But I don't like this space, this absence laced with insomnia/I'm caught in Bohemian Love," sings Doherty in 'Bohemian Love' to his ex-love Kate Moss, who is now dating the Kills' Jamie Hince. Sure beats a Candygram.

The Samples Split After Twenty Years

Through a MySpace Bulletin that he titled simply, 'The Samples 1987-2008,' frontman Sean Kelly announced yesterday that "the long and winding road for the Samples has ended."

Like any band that's been around for two decades without ever breaking into serious commercial sales, the Samples survived first by being college favorites and then, with time, became something of an underground institution. In the bulletin, Kelly writes that through all the ups and downs, he wouldn't take a single day back, and that he put his "heart and soul" into all of it. "I feel a bit like Forest Gump when he stopped running, turned around, and said 'I think I am going to go home now.'"

Kelly is attempting to sell some gear and memorabilia, and is offering private guitar and vocal lessons via webcam. He also is seeking an attorney and accountant who, as he writes in the bulletin, "would be willing to work pro bono until I can get back on my feet." Anybody interested should email him directly at thesamplesusa@aol.com.

By the way: In recent years, Kelly was the last original member standing, and he tells Spinner that he "absolutely" plans on continuing to perform Samples material at his solo gigs and in future endeavors.

Velvet Revolver Falling to Pieces?

On Friday, two members of Velvet Revolver took to the Net to duke it out, putting the future of the band as we know it in serious question.

The fracas started when drummer Matt Sorum took to his blog to comment on Scott Weiland's onstage antics Thursday night in Glasgow, Scotland. During that gig, Weiland reportedly informed fans, "You're watching something special ... the last tour by Velvet Revolver." Then, following a lackluster (and apropos) performance of 'Fall to Pieces,' attendees witnessed a Grade-A Weiland tantrum. After a heated exchange with a soundman, the singer threw his microphone down and stormed off the stage. Troubleshooting the problem, bassist Duff McKagan took over vocal chores, singing the start of 'It's So Easy' until Weiland came to his senses and rejoined the band onstage.

"So last night was interesting," Sorum blogged Friday. "Had a little band turmoil on stage, as you probably all could tell. Being in a band is a lot like being in a relationship. Sometimes you just don't get along. I guess there has been more turmoil lately, I guess, with the cancellations and all. It has been frustrating, I am not going to lie."

Lily Allen and Ed Simons Break Up

Only a month into 2008, it's already been a rough year for Lily Allen.

In December 2007, the singer announced that she and boyfriend of three months, Chemical Brothers' Ed Simons, were pregnant. Sadly, one month later, she suffered a miscarriage. Now, the Sun is reporting that Allen, 22, and Simons, 37, have parted ways.

A source close to the 'Smile' singer told the British magazine, "They tried to make things work but couldn't. The miscarriage was a horrible experience for both of them." Read the full story.

Tommy Lee Says He Has Not Quit Motley Crue

When not throwing down with Kid Rock at awards shows, Tommy Lee can be found fighting his Motley Crue bandmates in the courtroom, which has led to a recent report that the drummer had quit the band after more than a quarter century together. In a newly released statement, Lee has evidently rescinded his resignation, or maybe he never resigned in the first place, or perhaps he was actually fired. What is clear is that Lee, whose manager is being sued by the other Crue-men over a payment dispute, is not a quitter.

OK, that's really not all that clear, either. But let Lee explain in his own measured words what his current status is with the Crue: "I am a founding member of Motley Crue. Based on internal band issues aired publicly, my future with the band is uncertain. I have tried to meet with my bandmates repeatedly without success but have informed them that I'm not walking away from my band of 25 years. It troubles me that the current legal issues which were filed by the corporations against my personal manager are separating us and causing more dysfunction. I hope we can work this out amongst ourselves."

Perhaps this means he's still in the band and Nikki, Vince and Mick have been given the sack. It's that good a statement.

Former Cult singer Ian Astbury, who has been touring with Doors keyboard player Ray Manzarek and guitarist Robby Krieger first as the humbly named Doors of the 21st Century and then as the more evocative Riders on the Storm, has announced that he will be ending his relationship with the duo.

It's a crying shame that Astbury won't get the opportunity to revisit the career high points of legendary Doors frontman Jim Morrison. Unlike the original Mr. Mojo Risin', he'll never get to take his "little Lizard King" out for an onstage walk, become a bearded, bloated blob or expire in a Paris bathtub -- or at least do any of those things as a member of the Doors.

Let's hope someone will be kind enough to vandalize his headstone someday.

If you haven't bought tickets for Nickel Creek's fall tour yet, you ought to. According to a statement issued on their official site, they're breaking up. In a year and a half.

Dearest Listener,

After seven years of extensive touring in support of three records (seventeen years as a band), we've decided to take a break of indefinite length at the end of 2007 to preserve the environment we've sought so hard to create and to pursue other interests. It has been a pleasure to write, record, and perform for you through the years and we'd like to heartily thank you for your invaluable contribution to our musical lives.

Yours,

Nickel Creek
(Sean, Sara, and Chris)

R.I.P. in the future, Nickel Creek.
